Backgammon is a two-player race game where each side moves 15 checkers around the board and off the far end, and the first to bear all of them off wins. You roll two dice on your turn and move checkers by the numbers shown, always heading toward your own home board. You may land on a point that is empty, holds your own checkers, or holds a single enemy checker called a blot, which you then send to the bar. As a beginner, focus on keeping checkers safe in pairs, building blocks in front of the opponent, and avoiding lone checkers where they can be hit.
