Turkish Draughts differs from English draughts mainly in movement: Turkish men move straight forward and sideways, while English checkers move only diagonally forward. In English draughts, pieces sit on the dark squares and men capture only diagonally; a crowned king moves one diagonal square in any direction, not across the whole board. In Turkish Draughts, men use every square, can slide sideways, and a promoted king flies any distance along straight lines. Both games are played on an 8x8 board with forced captures, but the straight-line movement and the powerful flying king make Turkish Draughts feel faster and more aggressive.
