In solo Batak every player competes alone for their own bid, while in team Batak two pairs of partners play together and combine their tricks. Solo bidding Batak is a free-for-all: each of the four players makes their own bid and tries to survive on their own. In 2v2 team Batak, the players sitting across from each other are partners, so their captured tricks count for the team and any winnings or scores are shared. Team play adds cooperation, since partners try to support each other's cards, but table-talk is not allowed, so you must read your partner through the cards they play.
