The goal of Batak is to bid the number of tricks you can take, pick the right trump suit, and then win at least that many tricks without going bust. Every hand revolves around this promise: bid too low and you hand control to opponents, bid too high and you risk sinking. After the auction sets the bidder and trumps, all four players fight over the 13 tricks, following suit and over-trumping under the rules. Success means meeting your bid; failure means going bust.
