How many players and cards are in Batak?

Batak is played by four players using a standard 52-card deck, with all cards dealt out so each player receives 13 cards. Because the whole deck is used and split evenly, there are exactly 13 tricks to be won in every hand. Each of the four players competes to capture as many tricks as they need to fulfil their bid. This four-player, full-deck setup is what makes trump choice, following suit, and card counting so important, since every card is in someone's hand. Batak can be played as a solo game, where each player is on their own, or as 2v2 team Batak with partners sitting across from each other.
